Indian minister for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari recently said the government is in the process of launching an e-commerce website to directly connect MSMEs and the khadi industry with consumers. The website will be loosely based on China’s Alibaba and US Amazon, the minister informed the lower house of the parliament.

He also elaborated on the problems faced by the MSMEs like marketing, labour issues and working capital costs. The MSME ministry aims to give individual attention to all these stakeholders and resolve these issues, Indian media reported Gadkari as saying.

The government is discussing funding issues with the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, he added. (DS)
