UP Textile Institute battles water & power shortage

Government Central Textile Institute (GCTI) is facing tremendous problems with power cuts, inadequate funding and the lack of teaching staff.
This is the only government textile institute in Uttar Pradesh and was set up over 150 years ago.
However, companies do come in here for campus placement due to its past glory.
But this is not the first choice for the students as the starting salary is low and adding to that is the lack of proper facilities.
Institute has only a few permanent teachers and the students have to generate money for their educational tours when they are able to interact with the industry players.
Even more pathetic is when there are water and power problems at the students' hostels.
The proposal to provide it the autonomous status has yet to be accepted.
