Tailors Training Programme for physically challenged youths

Small Industries Service Institute (SISI), New Delhi has been working with Okhla Garment & Textile Cluster (OGTC) under Small Industry Cluster Development Programme (SICDP) of the Ministry of Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries.

The Cluster during the last two and a half years of techno-managerial interventions have made significant contribution towards drawing tangible benefits to member units and common sourcing of input material, marketing, improvement in productivity, quality, sharing of information etc. Besides, a social commitment has also been addressed by the members of the Cluster.

The member units of the Cluster have extended employment to 21 physically challenged youths, trained under Tailors Training Programme at Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC), NOIDA. Action for Ability Development and Inclusion (AADI) has come forward along with FICCI towards enhancing employment and livelihood opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Special training was designed to provide skilled personnel to garment export industries. Two batches of adults with disability were trained at ATDC, NOIDA and participants of both the batches have successfully completed the training. The NTPC, Badarpur also came forward to build potentials for persons with disabilities and provided conveyance to such persons during the training.

A session to boost the moral and encourage the physically challenged youth was organized by SISI and OGTC at SISI, New Delhi in which certificates were also awarded to them. Two private organisations have offered employment to such youths in their units.

SISI assists the Small Scale Enterprises in upgrading their knowledge and improving their technical skills through structured management and skill up gradation programmes.
