PMI2 Connect is UK Prime Minister's Initiative to work with Governments, Education providers and industry in identified countries to build strategic alliances and partnerships.

Within the agreement between Vietnam and UK governments, UK – based Swansea University has commenced a program on training for students of textile and garment industry of Vietnam at Vietnamese Economy and Technology No.2 College.

Accordingly, the UK side will send its lecturers and experts to Vietnam to guide local teachers as well as carry out short – term training programs for the students in a bid to improve management skill, working skill and knowledge of Vietnamese ones.

“We know that Vietnam plans to increase its textile and garment exports turnover up to US $10 billion in the US market; in the meantime the industry will need more man power to fulfill this, and this is one step towards this goal,” said Helen McClure, Head of International Students Department of Swansea University.

The programs should be funded from UK Government via British Council. So far, the PMI program has been implemented in 6 projects in Vietnam for various industries.
