The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) collaboration for Assault Response & Education (CARE) is organizing the UNCW Clothesline Project, a national movement that uses t-shirts made by victims of sexual assault and domestic violence to raise awareness of the issues.
The t-shirts will be displayed by the University Union and on the campus commons from November 14-18. On Wednesday November 16, CARE will provide a safe space for people to make t-shirts and then hold a dedication ceremony.
CARE is a resource center located on the second floor of Westside Hall, along with the Counseling Center, Student Health Services, and CROSSROADS. CARE offers trainings, programs, and awareness campaigns to partners across campus in education to raise awareness and change the campus environment.
CARE campus partners include University Police, the Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling Center, Health Services, the Women's Resource Center, and Housing and Residential Life.
The office works collaboratively with community agencies such as the Rape Crisis Center and Domestic Violence Shelter and Services. Rebecca Caldwell and Dee Casey, CARE coordinators work closely with CROSSROADS and the Counseling Center.
