The report points out that Beijing garment industry is one of the important industries in the developing process of constructing Beijing into a modern international metropolis.
With the gradual implementation of the 'outline of promoting the development of Beijing fashion industry and building a fashion capital', Beijing garment industry is pushing industrial restructuring and optimization in research, design, production, marketing, and other links.
Beijing garment industry, focused on processing industry, has covered all the sectors in the industrial chain, from textile, knitting, dyeing and printing, ready-wear processing, clothing accessories production, marketing and so on, which are showing a trend of clusters and a good developing momentum.
In 2005, the industrial output value of above-scale enterprises in Beijing garment industry stood 15.799 billion yuan, up 30.79 percent over the previous year. Textile and garment exports reached US $2.447 billion, ranking 10th in China, up 32.65 percent. Europe, Japan, the US are main export markets.
Currently, though Beijing textile and garment detection sector has a certain foundation after being established for several decades, the general conditions are poor and insufficient. It is difficult to adapt to the fierce competition in the market.
The report said that the establishment of an early warning system would help China as a big textile and apparel country regain the speaking right in the field of world ecological textiles.
