TIFE displays unique PET bottle fabric

The seventh Textile International Forum and Exhibition (TIFE 2007) held on October 4 displayed polyester fabric from Taiwan textile industry. This unique fabric was made of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles.
In 2004, Taiwan had a rate of nearly 30 percent of PET collection and the volume is expected to go beyond one million tons in Europe by 2010. Plastic bottles being light in weight have become valuable raw material for a variety of finished goods like polyester fiber, sheet, strapping, and new PET bottles.
So massive has been the utilization of PET in the goods industry that-- Nike, Adidas and Reebok have placed huge orders on local market for polyester fabric. Tzu Chi Foundation, a charitable Buddhist organization in Taiwan, was so far the only organization carrying out the recycling procedure in an efficient and competent manner.
Instances of duplication in polyster fabric have compelled the textile industry to constantly check the authenticity of the raw material.
