The City of Chicago is proud to present Fashion Focus Chicago 2005, an exciting 11-day celebration, September 19-29, spotlighting independent Chicago fashion designers and the many facets of Chicago's fashion scene including industry organizations, schools and agencies. Fashion Focus Chicago 2005 is presented by the City of Chicago and sponsored by the IN:CHICAGOsm Card from American Express and the W Chicago - City Center.
Beginning Monday, September 19 through Thursday, September 29, Chicago's Loop will be transformed into a fashion mecca. All programming is presented by the City of Chicago in partnership with Marshall Field's, Gen Art, the Apparel Industry Board, Inc., Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center, Chicago Fashion Foundation, Chicago Loop Alliance, Columbia College Chicago, The Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago, the International Academy of Design and Technology and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. All events are free to the public unless otherwise noted.
'Chicago is very proud of its fashion industry, especially when it comes to their specialized colleges and universities,'said Mayor Daley. 'Fashion Focus Chicago will give them the opportunity to showcase these local schools while highlighting the talents of their designers, organizations and agencies.'
During this first ever 11-day festival celebrating fashion, the City of Chicago and its various partners will feature events for industry and non-industry participants. Anumber of fashion shows with Chicago designers, a Chicago designers boutique, seminars, premier events, celebrity appearances, exhibits and much more will be offered.
