In a Winter Coat Fashion Show to benefit the Salvation Army and WTAE-TV's Project Bundle-Up, fashion students at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh will show off backstage, applying what they learn in the classroom to the fashion show.
While the models walk down the runway with their creations, each designer-students will be dealing with one aspect of the fashion show, ranging from orchestrating makeup and changes for the models to staging and lighting.
Ten students in Michele Bamburak's event and fashion show production class at the Art Institute will demonstrate how to coordinate a fashion show.
Carl Williams is overseeing the arrangement of the outfits and managing the wardrobe with more than 37 winter outfits and says organizing a fashion show is all about more than just clothes.
The course is part of the new fashion retail management Bachelor of Science degree program added to the school earlier this year.
Project Bundle-Up supplies thousands of disadvantaged children and senior citizens each year with new coats, hats, scarves, mittens and boots.
Last year, Project Bundle-Up provided approximately 8,000 winter coats to disadvantaged people in Western Pennsylvania. The organization hopes to increase that number each year.
More than 182,000 people have got the benefit of winter outfits, since the project started in 1986.
