MODINT's Grand Seigneur fashion award goes to G-Star

This year, the 'Grand Seigneur', the most prestigious fashion award in the Netherlands, celebrated its 20th anniversary. On 25 January 2007 the oeuvre award was presented for the 20th time and this year's winner was G-STAR.
This was announced by MODINT, the trade organisation for fashion, interior design, carpets and textiles. The renowned award itself, a sculpture by Wendela Gevers Deynoot, was presented to Jos van Tilburg, G-STAR's founder and director, on the evening of Avond aan den Amstel.
The jury was unanimous in its selection of the founder and passionate leader of G-STAR, Jos van Tilburg. Since it was established in 1989, G-STAR has become a strong, recognisable fashion signature of a very specialised clothing segment. Innovative and cutting edge, G-STAR gives this clothing segment a fashionable dimension.
G-STAR responds to our non-conformist times and appeals to men and women of every generation. G-STAR no longer thinks of target groups in terms of age, but more in terms of state of mind. 'There are preppy 18 year olds and 40-year-old punk rockers. Hippies are now 60', according to Jos van Tilburg.
Quintessential for the G-STAR style are authentic details such as bar tacks and reinforcements found in old army wear and tailor-made suits. An authentic touch to something ultramodern: 'forbidden combinations' as they call it at G-STAR.
With branches in 17 countries, 28 offices, 73 showrooms worldwide and more than 4,600 outlets in over 45 countries, the brand of jeans brings clothes within the reach of a wide audience.
