On the heels of the close of The WSA Showt and The Collections at WSA, the company announced a rise in both participants and exhibit space compared to February 2006. On a year-over-year basis, participation rose eight percent from 34,515 to 37,279. Exhibit space increased three percent from 1,080,500 net square feet to 1,112,000 square feet.

The show attracted more than 85 percent of the top footwear retailers in the US market while international attendance rose to 26.5 percent of attendees from 24 percent in February 2006. “This is a result of our aggressive Retail Relations efforts globally,” stated Diane Stone, WSA Show chief operating officer.

The response to the show was excellent,” affirmed Stone. “We attracted 2,764 more participants despite the complications connected with a Super Bowl weekend, the result of a legacy contract completed prior to the expansion of the football schedule. The level of participation is a testament to the importance of the show in the footwear and accessories industry.”

Stone further stated that “we spent a great deal of time meeting with exhibitors and attendees so that we can continue to be responsive to the needs of our customers. One of the items we discussed was the length of the show, which has been a four-day program historically.”
