CMC & FIDM Alumni launch initial partnership programs

The California Market Center (CMC) and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising's Alumni Association recently launched their new partnership, providing special programs and benefits to the constituents of both organizations. A series of initiatives to commence during the upcoming October 2008 LA Fashion Market and the LA International Textile Show will be the first programs of the new partnership.

“A partnership between the CMC and the FIDM Alumni Association is a natural fit,” says Joanne Lee, SVP of the California Market Center. “We are happy to play a role assisting in the professional growth of students and alumni by integrating and introducing them to the fashion and textile markets. This early industry exposure will be significant in shaping the careers of these students and graduates and therefore the future of the industry.”

The California Market Center will provide various benefits to FIDM Alumni as the first element of the partnership. The CMC will offer discounted rates for FIDM Alumni to exhibit at the CMC's shows including the LA International Textile Show and the Focus Apparel and Accessories Show during LA Fashion Market.

The CMC will also open the doors to FIDM Alumni to attend the LA International Textile Show, which normally has strict attendee requirements. Additionally, alumni are invited to attend the free designer seminars presented by various organizations including, Cotton Inc, PromoStyl, and WGSN, during the Textile Show.

“FIDM is pleased to offer such wonderful career exposure to the members of our Alumni association,” says Nathalie Holtzman, FIDM Director of Alumni Relations.

Both the California Market Center and the FIDM Alumni Association are looking forward to the advantages the partnership will bring to both sides. “We are developing our relationships throughout the Los Angeles fashion industry and are pleased to be working with the FIDM Alumni Association, to support the existing and upcoming talent in LA,” says Lee. She continued, “We plan to have a long standing relationship, with many more programs in the future.”
