IAF International Designer Award to be held in Maastricht

The IAF International Designer Award catwalk show and gala dinner is scheduled for October 29th, 2008, on the event of the IAF World Apparel Convention.
The event will be held at the "Government" in Maastricht (The Netherlands), the government building where the EU Treaty of Maastricht was signer in 1992. The collection submitted by nominees this year should be focused on ladies' wear for Summer 2009 and the theme is Seizing the Day, Crossing into the Night.
The objective of the IAF International Designer Award is to invite and encourage prominent young designers to participate in this prestigious contest. By strengthening the exchange among IAF member associations, international fashion design is promoted among the most influential decision-makers in the apparel industry. All IAF member associations are invited to participate in this event, by nominating one designer from their country.
The following designers have been nominated to take part in the OAF International Designer Award on behalf of their respective countries:
• Vietnam - Dao Le Dieu Anh • Spain - Frans Baviera • Netherlands - Catta Donkersloot • Belgium - Hilde Frunt • Taiwan - Johar Ku • Turkey - Zeynep Guntas • Greece - Vrettos Vrettakos • India - Rahul Mishra • Germany - Irene Luft • Colombia - Isabel Henao
The panel of judges will include Angela Rumsey (WGSN, UK), Meher Castelino, former model and freelance journalist (India), and Massimilano Bizzi, creator of White, The Clothing Fashion Trade Show of Milan (Italy).
On their recommendation on the evening of the IAF International Designer Award, prizes will be awarded for Most Creative Design, Most Commercial Design and Best Way of Working with the Fabric.
