A new Delhi-based design label Huit Angles, which had opened shop in February 2006 owned by its creative director Sunny Mishra, a graduate of NIFT Delhi has attracted an American businessman Michael LaCasella, to invest US $5 million and another $20 million to set up exclusive boutiques for the brand.
Mishra, described Huit Angles as having been created to give a Western, contemporary twist to the traditional wardrobe of the Indian woman who wants stand out in the crowd.
Huit Angles Inc, USA has a presence in Los Angeles and Paris and has Kapil Modi as its President.
Mishra and Modi will get 80 percent ownership and the remaining 20 percent (with an option to increase up to 50 percent) will be owned by Michael to be used exclusively to market the brand internationally.
The production cost of the collection will be borne by Huit Angles, India, in which Michael has no stake.
Michael had learnt about the Huit Angles creations from some Hollywood associates.
According to Michael, Sunny Mishra is truly an out of the box thinker and designer.
In the West, they worship originality and for them a great copy is always a copy.
Michael is confident that Huit Angles Inc, USA, in times to come, will be a name to be reckoned with.
