New Era Cap Co Inc, the premier, global headwear designer, developer and manufacturer, has launched its latest Capture the Flag 59FIFTY designed by Jake Burton, Founder and CEO of Burton Snowboards.
The cap will be available at select retail stores beginning today Thursday, March 30th. Although his name is synonymous with Snowboarding, and some would even say he gave birth to the sport, Jake Burton walks with a certain laidback, yet confident, demeanor which embodies a humble simplicity that is reflective in his New Era Capture the Flag 59FIFTY.
Inspired by a heavy melton wool ski jacket, the first one Burton released in his apparel line, the fitted features a moss green, coffee and chocolate brown plaid melton wool exterior, with only one other external element -- a patina'd copper application of Burton Snowboards' first company logo. Like Jake, it's what's inside this cap that makes you stand up and take notice.
The old gold lining and under visor take a historical look at the company's logos in a gold flocked application, and in true humility Jake included a tribute to Burton's fallen boarders with a black sweatband with their names embroidered in gold; telling of who he is as a man.
"I thought it was challenging to design this cap because the expectations were so high," said Burton Designer Cory McDonald. "How do you sum up the lifestyle of such an innovator with a cap, but I truly believe we captured a great feel and life timeline with Jake's design."
