Ranna Gill presents 'Molten Metal' collection at WLFW

The look is romantic yet sharp. Gill's mood board of molten metal develops with sensual textures rather than an overhauling of the classic silhouettes. “I have embellished fabrics with metal riveting and crystals," she says. And ultimately it's the drama of these looks that makes the collection on-trend and desirable though she has retained a hint of something a little more traditional in the capsule line of lkat lions.

We have been doing R & ID the past few seasons on molten metal on how to use it in our creations. This season it really came together as the central theme for Autumn Winter ready to wear collection'.

RANNA GILL AUTUMN WINTER 2013 MOLTEN METAL

This season Ranna Gill has focused on "high eveningwear" relevant to the glamorous life of global jet setters. Length is key and the accent is on her signature maxi-dresses. The extended tailcoat that grazed the ankles on some of the looks adds drama. Tops and tunics, leather leggings and frock dresses also get their fair share of attention in this collection while a line of jackets have a smart retro-modern look.

To reflect the luxurious glamour at the heart of the ready-to-wear autumn winter collection metallic fabrics and foil have been offset with leather.

Photographic and location engineered printing forms a large part of the collection. The designer is mad for prints and their graphic treatment is completely striking to stay in sync with the mood of molten metallic, Ranna Gill has extensively used metal riveting and rock in' roll leather trimming while a capsule line dedicated to ikat lions and elaborately hand worked embellishment with a fresh and easy spirit stays true to her signature craftsmanship.
