Specialty retailer Too boosts Q1 earnings outlook

Specialty retailer Too Inc stated that based on the net sales results for the nine week period ended April 1st 2006, it now expects earnings per diluted share for the first quarter ending April 29th 2006 to be in the range of $0.28 to $0.30, a range higher than the company's previous guidance of $0.22 to $0.24 per diluted share.

As with that previous guidance, the $0.28 to $0.30 includes an estimated $0.02 per diluted share for incentive stock option expense.

The company reported that the higher earnings forecast reflects an estimated comparable store sales increase of 6 to 7 percent, a range higher than the company's previous estimate of a 3 percent increase. Too added that the anticipated 6 to 7 percent improvement would reflect a comparable store sales increase in the mid single-digit range for Limited Too and a double-digit increase for Justice stores.

Too Inc Chairman, President and CEO Mike Rayden, said, "Following strong sales in February, March sales for Limited Too and Justice were well above our original expectations, despite the calendar shift of Easter to April this year. While the full impact of that Easter shift is yet undetermined, we are confident in the strength of our business for the remainder of the quarter."

Too plans to release the operating results for the first quarter ending April 29th 2006 on Wednesday, May 17th 2006, before the opening of trading on the New York Stock Exchange that day.
