Pantaloon shows strong YOY growth with Rs195.43cr sales

Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited retail sales for the month of May 2006 stood at Rs. 195.43 crores as against Rs. 125.14 crores during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of 56.17 percent.
For Value Retailing, sales were at Rs. 140.69 crores as against Rs. 82.02 crores during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of 71.53 percent. For Lifestyle Retailing, the company recorded sales of Rs. 54.74 crores as against Rs. 43.12 crores during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of 26.95 percent.
Same store growth in Value Retailing for May stood at 18.52 percent and for Lifestyle Retailing at 16.88 percent. The above sales figures for the month of May 2006 and May 2005 include Shop in Shop (SIS) sale of Rs. 6.83 crores and Rs. 11.23 crores respectively.
Pantaloon Retail (I) Limited entered into the e-tailing business, with the launch of its unique retailer model- www.futurebazaar.com , offering the lowest prices, everyday and aiming to democratize the process of online shopping.
The company forayed into the books, music and gifts categories by opening its first stand alone stores under the Depot brand at Ahmedabad and Mangalore. Depot would offer an extensive range of books, multimedia, toys, gifts and stationery, catering to all regional preferences and age groups.
ConvergeM, a subsidiary of Pantaloon's launched Mbazaar in 27 Big Bazaar's, offering a wide range of products and services, including GSM & CDMA mobile phones, airtime charges, mobile accessories, VAS options and fixed line telephones.
