Trading company Itochu's e-commerce division Magaseek has started collaboration with fashion magazines. This new collaboration with large publishing companies is to establish a new online shopping page with different magazines.

Items placed in the magazines could be bought online. Magaseek had been working with magazines since 2003, but this is the first to have a special on separate magazines.

The first special magazine collaboration started on June 23rd with the magazine CanCam. The products are from 22 brands that are presented in the magazine on a regular basis. Others will gradually join, as magazines such as Ray, With, and More have already been announced to collaborate.

The website already works with 100 companies and 150 brands. Members reached 160 thousand in 2003 and are on the rise as trendy brands such as Tomorrowland, Moussy, and many others began to list themselves. Item ranges cover clothing to accessories, and special items that are introduced on magazines.

E-commerce business is on the rise in Japan with sites such as Zozo Town and Girls Walker compete with the trendiest brands in Tokyo. This business allows many in suburban areas wishing to purchase items seen on magazines and fail to find the shops in their areas.

Retailers are listing themselves on the sites for similar reason; to reach out to customers based in areas they do not have stores in. As access and purchase from those in new territories increase, retailers could use this data in developing strategies for new openings.
