Tandy Leather Factory Inc reported that sales for the month of June were $4.5 million, an increase of 8 percent from $4.2 million last year. Year to date sales are up 12 percent to $27.8 million in the current year from $24.9 million last year.
Retail Leathercraft posted a 25 percent sales increase for June, with sales totaling $1.8 million compared to $1.4 million in June 2005. The 46 comparable stores posted a 7 percent same store sales gain for the month.
The 16 stores opened since May 2005 added May sales of $256,000. Year-to-date sales for Retail Leathercraft are $10.7 million this year, a 28 percent increase over sales of $8.4 million for the same period of 2005. As of the end of June, the same store sales gain for the 42 comparable stores is 9 percent for the year.
Wholesale Leathercraft posted sales of $2.6 million for June. Within the Wholesale Leathercraft division, the comparable wholesale centers' sales were $2.1 million for June, which matched June 2005 sales of the same amount.
The National Account group's sales also matched those of June 2005. For the year to date, Wholesale Leathercraft sales are $16.1 million compared to $15.6 million in 2005, an increase of 4 percent.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Wray Thompson, commented, "Our second quarter produced a 10 percent sales gain and an 8 percent same store sales gain in our Retail Leathercraft division. We've opened eleven new retail stores so far this year and they should continue to gain momentum through the remainder of the year.
