David Sexton, vice president of loss prevention at Jewelers Mutual, was elected to the Board of Directors of Jewellers Vigilance Canada (JVC) in February 2006.
Based in Toronto, JVC was founded in 1987 as a non-profit association dedicated to advancing ethical practices in the Canadian jewellery industry. More recently, it added crime prevention education to its mandate.
Sexton will lend his loss prevention expertise to the JVC board. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, he has served on Underwriters' Laboratories Security Systems Council (formerly known as the Burglary Protection Council) since 1994, and serves as a Corporate Member of U.L. in the insurance category.
He has worked on the Central Alarm Association's Insurance Liaison Committee, which assisted in the development of the U.L. burglar alarm modular certificate program and revised U.L. standard. He also is involved in an FBI task force devoted to solving a string of burglaries along the eastern seaboard of the United States.
Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company specializes in protecting the jewelry industry in the United States and Canada.
