DSW Inc announced plans to create a corporate campus in Columbus, Ohio, to accommodate its continued growth.
"We are very excited about the growth of DSW and our ability to expand in Columbus, our home community, which has an outstanding employment base and tremendous opportunities for companies such as ours," said Jay Schottenstein, Chairman and CEO of DSW Inc.
Plans call for a new 150,000 square foot office expansion to be combined with the existing 700,000 square foot distribution center and offices, creating a cohesive campus environment for all associates.
The new campus, expected to be ready for occupancy by spring 2007, will accommodate DSW's 500 current associates plus 75 or more full-time jobs to be added over the next three years.
Utilizing a former warehouse facility as the office building's foundation, architects will completely transform the interior -featuring spacious 22-foot ceilings, exposed brick with light wood and large windows and skylights to maximize natural light - lending a loft-like feel to the mostly single-level office space.
The exterior will be given a new, contemporary façade complimented by landscaping throughout the campus. Amenities will include, among others, a café, coffee bar, outdoor seating and recreation space.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to renovate an existing structure. As a result, the project is more attractive in terms of both budget and timeline," said Peter Horvath, DSW's President.
