Vikram Phadnis & Gitanjali's dazzling opening to LFW

It was a spectacular blend of jewellery and fashion as the Lakme Fashion Week opened with a dazzling collection of Gitanjali Jewellery featuring the designs of Asmi, D'damas, Desire, Gili, Sangini and Nakshatra dressed with the beautiful creations of Bollywood's ace designer Vikram Phadnis.
From the first glamorous entry of a black and silver jacquard mini with black leotards the show was set for some high voltage ornaments and style.
The necklaces and earrings which adorned the models were breathtaking in their style as luxurious lacy collars, pendants and necklaces glistened with diamonds and cascades of earrings.
Vikram's styling was pure western wear in jacquards, taffeta, silk, and knits in black and white with touches of grey and silver embroidery that dazzled with bead work, zari, sequins and thread work.
Keeping his style directions very controlled Vikram brought in silhouettes which were ideal for formal wear – panelled dresses, coat dresses, sheaths, shifts, empire line minis and knee length dresses along, some teamed with the most elegant shrugs, boleros and waist coats. Throwing in a few knits in shades of grey, black and white Vikram had draped minis and long sleeved Tee dresses.
His embroidery was a perfect balance for the ornate gems worn by the models, restricted the embellishments to the neck, armholes, hems and at times on cummerbunds and Obe belts.
His finale was a show stopper as actors Perizad Zorabian in a sari, Minisha Lamba in a halter mini and Geeta Basra in an opulent lehenga, blouse and dupatta wearing the most stunning diamond sets from Gitanjali Jewellery collection closed the show.
Here was a fabulous show by Gitanjali Jewellery and Vikarm Phadnis' creations which set the mood for Lakme Fashion Week.
