Winners of the first on-line international bag design competition will be announced in Hong Kong at the Fashion Access Party, to be held on 29 March 2007 at Tribeca, Wanchai, where emerging talents meet the fashion industry.
'Design A Bag Competition 2007' is the inaugural event in a series of online design competitions for the international fashion accessories industry. It is organised by Fashion Access, the largest trade fair for handbags, travelware, footwear, leather and fur garments and fashion accessories in Asia.
The competition provides an international platform for new designers and students to connect to the fashion industry. It also aims at promoting Hong Kong as an important design centre and a fashion hub in the Asia Pacific region.
Perrine Ardouin, Senior Event Manager of Fashion Access, said, “Hong Kong has a crucial role in the design, production, marketing, merchandising and retailing of major multinational apparel and fashion brands. It is important to encourage young designers from all over the world to use Hong Kong as a platform, and to introduce young talents to the fashion industry.”
The competition is open to all designers and design students from around the world, with entries submitted in digital format on-line, which allows remote participation by designers, design students and judges. Over 250 entries from 20 countries have submitted their drawings on the themes of FIT, SLICK and PARTY.
A panel of international judges from the global fashion and apparel industry has been invited to select talented designers and students. It includes Designers Lulu Guiness and Pauric Sweeney, and representatives of LVMH, Lane Crawford, Esquel, Le Sportsac, Wing On Department Store, Peclers Paris, Bagazine, Institute of Vocational Education, and Hong Kong Design Centre.
