Limited Brands, which sells women's and men's apparel, lingerie, beauty and personal care products through its more than 3,700 stores, is planning to sell its low performing Express and Limited Stores apparel chains and focus on to personal care products and lingerie.
The highest bidders for the chains are Columbus-based Schottenstein Stores Corp and the Boston-based Gordon Bros Group.
The company operates through brands like Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works, Express, La Senza, and Diva London among others.
For last six years, Limited Brands has been selling off its apparel divisions. It had sold Lane Bryant, Lerner New York, teen retailer Abercrombie & Fitch and girls' retailer Tween Brands Inc and now focussed on the menswear stores under the Express label.
Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works stores bring in the most profit for the Columbus based company. Sales at stores opened a year ago, rose 11 percent for Victoria's Secret and 10 percent for Bath & Body Works in 2006 financial year, while sales at its apparel brands fell two percent last year and six percent, the previous year.
