Cache Inc, a specialty chain of women's apparel stores with 297 stores open, reported November 2007 sales figures.
Comparable store sales (sales for stores open at least one year or more) decreased 4% during the 4-week November 2007 period, as compared to an increase of 8% in the prior-year period.
Total net sales for the 4-week period ended November 24, 2007 decreased $0.9 million or 4% to $22.2 million, as compared to last year. Revenue for the 4-week fiscal 2006 period included $0.1 million in sales from the former Lillie Rubin chain.
For the 47-week period ended November 24, 2007, comparable store sales increased 1%, as compared to an increase of 5% in the same period in 2006. Total sales of $238.8 million for the 47-week fiscal 2007 period represented a decline of $1.0 million, as compared to last year. Revenue for the 47-week fiscal 2006 period included $12.4 million in sales from the former Lillie Rubin chain.
Mr. Brian Woolf, Cache's Chairman and CEO commented: "Our November comparable store sales decline of 4% reflected the difficult retail environment during the second half of the month. As we look ahead, we continue to be pleased with our positioning for holiday.
Currently, we are experiencing continued strength in our dress and contour assortments and our inventory remains well controlled with average inventory per store down approximately 15% at month end, as compared to the prior year period.”
During the quarter, the Company opened one new store and currently operates 297 locations.
