Third was Mariquita, an impressive 19-metre JI, with a boom over 20 metres long, which also won the elegance competition, presided by Princess Beatriz de Orleans-Borbon. In the end, Mariquita won the Overall Trophy of the Monaco Classic Week 2005 on the cumulated results obtained in the elegance competition and the Restoration and Heritage competition.
A newcomer to the Mediterranean, Oriole, designed in 1905 and sprightly at the age of one hundred, following a complete restoration to the original plans, was specially launched to take part in the regattas at the Monaco Classic Week.
In the IRC class, with an exceptional field of five J Class yachts, Velsheda outperformed its rivals, Cambria and Shamrock V, demonstrating its power and ability to capture the slightest breeze. Ranger and Astra, which met for the first time since 1930, completed this impressive field of competitors which made their names in the 1930s during the Americas' Cup matches.
