Irina Shabayeva, season six winner of Project Runway, presented her Spring 2011 collection at New York's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
With bouquets of gorgeous flowers, vines of ivy, moss & whimsical branches throughout the room, from Classic Event Designs, Irina transformed The Griffin into an enchanted garden. Irina created the perfect background to present her ethereal Spring 2011 Collection. Thirty models placed on pedestals wore the exquisite gowns and dresses, where their images were reflected by the mirrors behind them.
Hailed as breath-taking, the ethereal collection was inspired by the fluidity and lightness of dance, fairies, nymphs and magical gardens. Shabayeva's signature style of mixing exotic and clean silhouettes shines through in her latest line, where she uses luxurious fabrics, prints pulled from nature, hand-beaded embellishments, embroidery and the flawless tailoring we've come to expect from this talented artist.
The gorgeous separates, cocktail dresses, evening gowns and layered organza wedding dresses were complimented by the flawless sparkling make-up, sponsored by Smashbox, and jeweled hair pieces, created by Irina, were placed in the models hair, done by Cutler, who fulfilled Irina's vision of whimsy.
The enchanted gallery was full of people in awe of Shabayeva's talent and her magnificent presentation. Model and actress Veronica Webb was in attendance in one of her favorite dresses from the Spring 2011 designed by Irina. “Irina is so talented,” she exclaimed. “I love her clothes.” All were transfixed by the details on clothes that were able to seen up close as models lounged on velvet cushions, or stood among the foliage and moss.
The Spring collection is a balance between the ethereal and the structured, said Shabayeva. “This collection is about fantasy, dreams, and effortless glamour…..It's about living in a fantasy, even if its for a moment."
