Swiss retailer Jelmoli's FY sales up 2%

Swiss retail and property company Jelmoli Group has reported that turnover rose to CHF1037.7 million per end of 2005, a significant rise of 1.9 percent absolute and +1.5 percent comparable over the prior year level.

At Jelmoli Zurich, including specialty businesses, about 10 percent of sales floor areas and related turnover were transferred to external partners during the second half of 2005. Much of the Gourmet Factory and sub-sectors of the ground floor are now operated by specialty shops.

The former Young Fashion Street was transferred to the 'New Yorker' trend shop for young people. Disregarding the effects of these transfers and of the additional floor areas in the Nike shop opened per autumn 2004 in the rebuilt Jelmoli courtyard and the new Molino, Beach Mountain and Fashion Bazaars branches, turnover at Jelmoli Zurich was 5.9 percent higher than in prior year.

The additional courtyard sales floor areas have not only increased Jelmoli Zurich's high patronization level still further, but also attracted a new clientele and optimally complemented the existing textiles offering. This brought a steep overall turnover rise of 8.9 percent (including tenant turnovers) at this Zurich shopping centre.

Jelmoli Holding Group's principal activities are operating departmental stores, real estate and mail order business. It operates under the following divisions: Retail Trade andRetail Real Estate.

Retail Trade division includes retail trade activities of departmental stores, real estate, restaurants, fashion bazaars, Beach Mountain, Molino restaurants, bonus card and mail order through Jelmoli AG. Retail Real estate division provides real estate activities such as office space to rent; logistics centres, shopping centres and departmental stores.
