Industry visionary François-Henri Pinault, chairman and CEO of Kering, has been announced as the first speaker for 2019 edition of Copenhagen Fashion Summit, which will be held on May 15 and 16, 2019, in Denmark. Since its first edition in 2009, the summit has established itself as the world’s leading business event on sustainability in fashion.

A visionary and pioneering business leader, François-Henri Pinault has spearheaded the sustainability agenda in the luxury sector by implementing a wide range of environmental and social initiatives at Kering, including its environmental profit & loss account. For this exact reason, Kering has had a keynote speaker at every summit, and François-Henri Pinault has been at the top of the speaker wish list since the first edition of Copenhagen Fashion Summit back in 2009, according to a press release.

“I’m beyond excited to have François-Henri Pinault join us at what will be the summit’s 10-year anniversary. We’ve always appreciated Kering’s support, and since the very first Summit in 2009, we’ve had their executives speak, including Laurent Claquin, Marco Bizzarri, and Marie-Claire Daveu. To have François-Henri Pinault speak is a personal highlight for me as I’ve long admired his vision and leadership on sustainability for the industry,” Eva Kruse, president and CEO of global fashion agenda, organiser of Copenhagen Fashion Summit said.

“I strongly believe sustainability makes good business sense. As a luxury group, we have a specific responsibility to act, to be vocal and to lead the way to create momentum. This is the right and only thing to do. We have to think of sustainability as the new normal,” François-Henri Pinault said. (GK)
