The fifty-fourth edition of CIBELES MADRID FASHION WEEK (CMFW), an event organised by IFEMA, confirmed its leading position as a grand forum for Spanish design and the best showcase for the diverse range of creative talent in Spain. In total, throughout the event's five-day duration between 16th and 20th September, a total of 50,162 people travelled to Hall 14.1 at Feria de Madrid in order to gain a first-hand glimpse of the new fashion ideas for Spring-Summer 2012 and the latest new features from the sponsoring brands taking part with their stands in the Cibelespacio Area.

Once again on this occasion, innovation and new trends played a starring role at this key event for Spanish fashion, which opened its doors on Friday 16th September with a fashion show by Roberto Verino, followed by a posthumous fashion show by the designer, Jesús del Pozo, who recently died. At this edition, 44 designers presented their collections for Spring-Summer 2012, whilst 40 promising young talents exhibited and promoted their designs at the EGO Showroom in CIBELESPACIO, featuring the direct sale of their creations to members of the public.

Among the new features at this edition we might highlight the incorporation of the young designer from EL EGO, Maya Hansen, into the General Programme, as well as the live broadcast of the fashion shows through the CIBELES web page, following the success of this initiative at the last edition. Furthermore, on this occasion the broadcast featured an ongoing programme of reports and interviews with designers and other leading figures from this grand week of Spanish fashion. In total, more than 71,000 people connected to the live broadcast through their computers and mobile devices in order to follow the fashion shows and programme schedule at this edition of CIBELES.

Similarly, CMFW strengthened its focus on the social networking sites and its active presence on Facebook and Twitter. On this occasion, the event appeared for the first time on Tumblr and Tuenti. Furthermore, the fair strengthened the contents of its own blog, informing visitors of all news and events relating to CIBELES and the fashion world for some months now. In total, the number of followers on the different social networking sites where CMFW is present came to more than 44,500.
