Bride Show Dubai to host Swarovski fashion designer contest

For the sixth consecutive time this year, The Bride Show Dubai 2006 will organise Swarovski Young Designer of The Year Award 2006.

Charlotte Proudman, Event Manager said that over the years, the award had provided exposure to fashion designing students and helped their careers to take off.

She added that the award helped the Middle East's fashion industry in infusing new and ethnic ideas into bridal costume designing.

Proudman also announced that several past winners will be joining as exhibitors.

The Bride Show Dubai being organized by Institute of International Research (IIR) Middle East, will take place from April 4 to 7 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.

The event will be held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammad Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Ladies Club and Wife of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs.

Sponsored by Swarovski, Austria's leading jewellery and accessories maker, this award is one of the major attractions of the Bride Show.

Participants in the Swarovski Young Designer of The Year Award are given access to workshops and tutored on skills development.

Last year, the theme for the competition was that of 'Swinging Twenties' while this year's theme is inspired by Hollywood, 'Dress Satine', Nicole Kidman's character in the film 'Moulin Rouge'.

The participants will be divided in two groups, the student designer category and amateur designer category.
