Aneeth & Kallol to represent India at MBFW Berlin

In line with its visionary approach to integrating India into global fashion world, Lakmé Fashion Week has shortlisted two designers - Aneeth Arora and Kallol Datta to represent India at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Autumn/Winter - Berlin in January 2012.

Aneeth and Kallol were selected from a shortlisted group of designers by the LFW advisory board which comprises of prominent members from the fashion fraternity. The duo had presented a show - Berlin Calling at LFW Winter/Festive 2011.

This initiative, supported by IMG Reliance and IMG's International Fashion teams will mentor these designers and offer guidance on creating their collections, pricing, marketing, and all other aspects of design that will help them maximize this opportunity.

She further continued “Indian fashion is increasing becoming an essential part of the global fashion narrative. IMG Fashion and IMG Reliance are proud to apply our collective knowledge and expertise to help showcase emerging Indian talent at such an apt international platform”

On being selected designer Aneeth Arora said, "My association with Lakmé Fashion Week started with the Gen Next platform and now we will be representing India at Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week, Berlin. So it will be a great opportunity to take a little bit of India to Berlin and showcase our Indian aesthetics to a global audience. I also work with a lot of traditional Indian textiles like Khadi, Kota, Doria and Chanderi and would love to see the reactions that we receive for our collections".

Designer Kallol Datta said, "Berlin being one of the most progressive cities vis-a-vis fashion has me really excited. I am working upon fine tuning my shapes and details; essentially showcasing what my label has always been known for - clothes with an emotional connect. It will be interesting to see how a new audience of buyers and media engage with my garments and I am looking forward to the experience of showing at Berlin Fashion Week."

The Berlin Calling show is scheduled for January 21, 2012 at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Berlin – Autumn/Winter 2012.
