Mulberry is classic

Mulberry is the buzzword in fashion streets that were earlier speaking more of the 'it-bag' from Fendi's Baguette, Chloe's Paddington and Tod's Kate.

Over three decades now, Mulberry was popularized by British designers Luella Bartley and accessories expert Stuart Vevers, who was also hailed as “Vicar of Mulberry”.

The brand is classic and made naturally – the bags are relaxed, the leather's aged and it scratches. It is imperfect and got character, said the Doncaster-born Vevers.

New designs are tested out in paper replicates to check their workability and while the leather is later cut by machine, some of the processes such as stitching, plaiting and veining of the bags are done by hand.

For example, a bag like the ever-popular Bayswater, consumes about three hours and 40 minutes to complete, and the stitching alone takes two hours. This is the reason why Mulberry bags cost high.

The brand is also famous for its high quality vegetable tanned leather.

Though Mulberry's clientele used to be older, now the bags are also seen hung down the young shoulders like Gisele Bundchen also.
