Leading leatherwear Company Tandy Leather Factory Inc reported that sales for the month of December were $5.0 million, an increase of 8 percent from $4.7 million last year.
Year to date sales are up 10 percent to $50.7 million in the current year from $46.1 million last year.
Wholesale Leathercraft posted sales of $2.8 million for December, up 3 percent from $2.7 million in December 2004.
Within the Wholesale Leathercraft division, the wholesale centers' sales gain was minimal (less than 1 percent) while the National Account group posted a December sales gain of 21 percent.
For the year, Wholesale Leathercraft sales were $31.0 million compared to $30.6 million in 2004.
The wholesale centers achieved a 3.5 percent sales gain for the year while the National Account group ended the year with a 10 percent sales decline.
Retail Leathercraft posted a 16 percent sales increase for December, with sales totaling $2.1 million compared to $1.8 million in December 2004.
The 42 comparable stores posted a 5 percent same store sales gain for December.
The 8 stores opened in 2005 added December sales of $203,000.
Sales for Retail Leathercraft totaled $18 million for 2005, a 33 percent increase over sales of $13.5 million for 2004.
The year's same store sales gain for the 32 comparable stores was 8 percent.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Wray Thompson, commented, "They finished theyear well, achieving a new monthly sales record of $5 million.
