Launch of Adrian Alicea's STRANGE FRUIT collection

The House of Adrian Alicea Haute Couture announced that its Fall/Winter 2012/2013 collection, STRANGE FRUIT, will debut during New York City's famed Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Featuring the brilliant, one-of-a-kind designs of Adrian Alicea, the highly anticipated fashion showcase will take place on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at the grand, Landmark on the Park, located at 160 Central Park West at the corner of West 76th Street.
Adrian Alicea has been a fixture on the New York fashion scene independently for ten years. Exuding an unwavering passion for his craft, Alicea focuses on living his mantra of extraordinary style through innovation and individuality.
The women who wear Adrian Alicea are “enchanting, sophisticated, sexy and strong. They know who they are. They have a voice. They are not afraid to experiment and discover a new fashion path.” Adrian's goal is to provide a fashion platform upon which women's power and sensuality are both celebrated and cherished.
The STRANGE FRUIT Collection was inspired by Alicea's “passage through time” journeying through Paris, Moldavia and Budapest, enticed by the 13th century castles. Featuring luxurious fox, mink, and chinchilla furs paired with soft cashmere, embellished silks and satins, accessorized with handcrafted jewelry, this collection is reminiscent of the luxury of the aristocracy and the fantasy of folklore with all the unseen and unknown creatures of those cold, Medieval nights.
Adrian seeks to create art that everyone can wear to express who they are. It is this burning desire that continually pushes his authentic style to the forefront. As Adrian explains, STRANGE FRUIT is “my heart. Each piece is individually handcrafted. I love color, music and epic movies. My desire is that my designs evoke feelings of sexuality and passion which makes every piece unique. I put everything into my craft and want everyone wearing my pieces to feel proud to be an individual-- knowing they are different and that they have a right to be free.”
Adrian worked with such fashion and entertainment greats as Linda Evangelista, Varushka, Zoë Saldana, Iman, Naomi Campbell, Thierry Mugler, Patricia Field, Vivienne Westwood, Malcolm McClaren, Gianfranco Ferre, Kate Moss, Channing Tatum, Grace Jones, Blanca Soto, Nick Cannon, Meli'sa Morgan and the music legend Melba Moore.
The beauty and iconography of his designs have been captured by famed photographers Steven Meisel and David LaChapelle (who included Adrian's pieces in his famed coffee table book). Mr. Alicea continues to be a much sought-after designer and has been featured in countless magazines over his career including Vogue Russia, Vogue Italia, In Style, Flaunt, Marie Claire, Numero, L'oumo Vogue, GQ China, Spoon, I.D, Z!nk, PlayBoy, as well as the upcoming covers for Heed, Ikon Magazine and the March 2012 issue of American Elle.

Hailing from a family of twelve, Adrian moved from a humble home in Puerto Rico to a modest apartment in the Bronx with his siblings.
