Alexander Van Baalen, the luxurious womenswear designer, reveals his future plans to set up several standalone stores in London. In an exclusive chat with Fibre2fashion, the London-based fashion designer informs about his future endeavors to transform his brand into a lifestyle luxury label.

The South Africa born fashion designer, Alexander Van Baalen, emphasizes about his future plans, “In the next 5 years I see my brand going global and being available in all the leading stores across the world.”

Further talking about his creations, the designer tells, “Three years ago, when I started my own label with the collection of little black cocktail dresses, the idea was to give women an ultimate black dress that every lady should have in her wardrobe.”

“Since then, my creations have evolved into a dawn to dusk collection, which can carry women from their busy day at work to going out with their friends and family in the evening,” he says.

Alexander Van Baalen further explains about the inspiration for his designs, “My clothes highlight the era where fashion was not only about the cuts and fits of the garments, but it was also about the fabrics that were used in making those apparels.”

“My collections are classic with a twist. A lot of attention is paid to the detailing on both the inside and outside of the garment. I create unique prints each season which allow a woman to show her individuality through the garments she wears,” he emphasizes.

About the current scenario and growth of luxury apparel sector, the designer says, “The luxury apparel sector will continue to grow, as people will see buying luxurious attires as an investment in quality, thereby the emphasis will be on quality over quantity.”
