Clothing label Ae'lkemi’s designer Alvin Fernandez took away the Most Innovative Designer award at the 17th edition of WA Fashion awards.

The glitzy black-tie event, held in Western Australia’s largest city Perth, saw an impressive guest list comprised of nearly 400 people, including designers, models, stylists, bloggers and the who's who of the Australian fashion industry.

Nearly 37 designers, models, stylists, bloggers and fashion boutiques/labels were nominated under the nine categories and the winners from each category were selected by a combined group of 200 fashion industry professionals called Style Circle.

Among the prizes given at the event, fashion illustrator Pippa McManus won the top position in the Total Digital Creative Edge category and Josephine Clough’s fashion-based blog ‘It’s Now Cool’ received the Betts Best Fashion Blogger award.

Carillon City’s Hatch took away the Best Dressed Boutique honours and Zsadar from Shane Newton topped in the Designer For Tomorrow segment.
