Fabrics can be produced from a variety of materials. Textile is derived from four main sources: animal, plant, mineral, and synthetic - which are petroleum-based. All are ingredients to various clothing recipes that indulge every taste and necessity.
What's important
"A lot of retailers sell a $20 top that you might wear for a couple of weeks," Lee said. "We don’t want to take that approach. One of our goals is to produce pieces that last, that people can cherish, that become part of their collection and that speak to who they are as an individual. Fabric speaks for everything. It’s what makes the clothing."
"There is an immense variety of fabrics," Osgood said. "Each with its own unique characteristics and advantages."
When she comes across a particular fabric, it inspires her to create a new design with the goal to set her idea apart from other designs.
"When I see a fabric, it speaks to me and I know right away what I would do with that particular fabric," she said. "The main thing I look for is if the fabric is practical, if it’s edgy or sophisticated and if it will last. Durability and the lightness of the fabric are factored in as well.
"Our ultimate goal as designers," Lee added, "is for customers to wear a Le Posh Noir piece and feel amazing. The more they love that piece and want to wear it, the more it becomes part of them."
But just as important as that special “feel” is the need for their clothing products to be practical, easy to care for and timeless.
According to Lee, the company currently focuses on working within their budget and producing 100 percent eco-friendly clothing.
Osgood added that Le Posh Noir strives to deliver an affordable, stylish, sophisticated and edgy brand of apparel that also offers customers something extra - the guilt-free knowledge they are wearing fashions designed and manufactured right here in the U.S.A.
