Avon's Q4 operating income falls 28% due to restructuring initiatives

Cosmetic Company Avon Products Inc reported that earnings in the fourth quarter 2005 were $.40 per share, compared with 2004 fourth-quarter earnings of $.61 per share.
The company said the 2005 quarter included a negative impact of $.10 per share to implement early phases of its previously announced restructuring plans.
Avon said that revenue in the fourth quarter 2005 rose 4 percent (3 percent in local currency) to $2.4 billion.
Active Representatives grew 7 percent and units increased 5 percent versus the prior year.
Total Beauty sales in the quarter rose 5 percent (4 percent in local currency).
Avon, the company for women, is a leading global beauty company, with over $8 billion in annual revenue.
