Taking the audience on a romantic stylish journey through the Romanesque and Renaissance eras, the designer showed hints of wooden carvings in the form of unusual prints and accessories. Colours that danced a medley on the garments moved from different hues of blue/ivory to touches of nude/yellow for the very feminine creations.
Showcasing a totally resort line meant for the sun worshipper the designer offered a profusion of chiffon, jersey, and silk for bikinis, shorts, voluminous covers and gowns. Inspired by the motifs of the past eras, Sounia used the carvings and prints to anchor various parts of the garments.
The opening white cotton long sleeve cover over shorts, the bikini with chiffon flouncy top, the georgette side gathered beach long cover with appliquéd shoulders and the pleated swinging blouse made cool summer wear.
Minis were shown with flowing trails, while long slim skirts turned sexy with side slits and wrap blouses. Halters with intricate motifs yellow/white/blue draped gown, the long sleeve jersey shirt and panelled coloured skirt, had loads of swirling fabric to give a formal image to the entries.
Gliding in as the show stopper was statuesque Miss World 1997 Diana Hayden, in a black/turquoise/navy halter silk drape teamed with black leggings.
For that glamorous elegant line that will appeal to buyers around the world, Sounia Gohil's romantic collection tells an apt story.
