Preeti Wanchoo’s label “Ek Karkhana” presented a fascinating and vivid range at the Talent Box for her Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013 collection.

The Indo-western cuts were inspired by the Kutch tribes of India, mysterious nomads who live a life, which is as beautiful as it is harsh in climate and lifestyle.

Seeing strength within them amplified by colour and celebration, the designer showcased the western silhouettes such as shift dresses, layered jackets, tradition-kissed tunics as well as maxi gowns, which gave the range an ethnic/urban air and were graced by antique embroidery.

Working exclusively with breathable and traditional pure Indian fabrics such as khadi, woven cotton checks as well as organic cotton; the designs were richly embroidered with  several village life inspired motifs, such as peacocks, camels, tattooed faces, dots, triangles, village women and water pots.

Most of the designs sported a structured top, flowing down to the bottom in a graceful feminine form.

With Peter Pan collars as a refreshing twist, “Ek Karkhana” the label by Preeti Wanchoo will be the season’s top seller.
