The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), Eastern Region, Kolkata, organized a workshop, 'Comprehensive Jewellery Designing Course' to enhance and modernize the young talent in the country.

The 21-day course has been planned in collaboration with Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and the Jewellery Product Development Centre in Mumbai.

Renowned designers are offering their expertise on the fundamentals of jewellery designing during this course.

Shantanu Rajguru, Director, Eastern Region, GJEPC, said that there is a growing demand for branded jewellery, yet due to lack of proper knowledge and training, many traders lag behind.

This course will help such traders to upgrade their knowledge and compete in international market.

The course focuses on manual methods and basics like sketching and painting.

About 15 students are being trained here and all the trainees will be awarded with certificates.
