China protests against EU anti-dumping duties on shoes

The European Commission is in final stage of the anti-dumping investigation for leather shoes from China and Vietnam.

Many international shoe companies like Timberland and Wolverine are against this step.

Besides, China is threatening to get World Trade Organization (WTO) involved if EU imposes anti-dumping duties on Chinese shoe exports.

Sources expect this issue to be discussed, and probably resolved in March 2006.

Vietnam fears that its leather and footwear industry will be adversely affected if such a move on part of EU is promulgated.
