Improving workers' living conditions will reduce labour strikes, believe unionists and trade experts.
Two workshops were conducted for this purpose. One in southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau by Confederation of Labour Unions and the other in northern port city of Hai Phong by municipal chapter of Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Unionists of Ba Ria-Vung Tau stressed on solving workers' housing problem.
Demand for rental houses by 50 percent workers of northern zones and 65.8 percent in south have been put up.
Leather shoe and garment industries had to face strike by over 5,000 workers from the Sao Vang Company Ltd in the Tan Trang industrial zone due to low wages.
They were paid just 700,000 VND average monthly wages which could not satisfy basic living expenses.
