For the first time in the history of apparel and fashion industry, a clothing collection will be launched in space on June 21, 2013.

‘The Age of Aquaritius’, a new yoga pant collection by the high-end fashion retailer Teekishop.com, in collaboration with the US space service company Space Services Inc, will be unveiled in space as part of the Name A Star Live 'Centennial Flight' effort, where science experiments, small spacecraft, and personal effects are routinely launched into space.

Speaking to fibre2fashion, designer and owner of Teekishop.com, Lindsay Hemric said, “Teeki fashion line 'The Age of Aquarius' will be part of the Name A Star Live 'Centennial Flight' effort where science experiments, small spacecraft, and personal effects are routinely launched into space.”

“The Age of Aquarius line was inspired by a desire to connect with the cosmos, space exploration, the beauty of our constellations, to celebrate sustainability and raise awareness for our eco-fashion line,” she adds.

Talking about the significance of the new yoga pants, she says, “The specific material for producing the new yoga pants is made from recycled plastic bottles. Teeki takes the recycled plastic and then we reuse the petroleum to turn it into a recycled polyester material that is perfect for an active lifestyle.”

“Our clothing is made from almost 90 percent recycled plastic and the fabric is incredibly soft as well as water wicking and very breathable. The goal is to develop a line of clothes that people want to wear, by making unique patterns,” she mentions.

The new yoga pant line will be rolled out online by May 15, 2013 and the actual space launch will take place on June 21, 2013 out of Space Port America in New Mexico, USA onboard the UP Aerospace's SpaceLoft XL SL-7 launch vehicle.

Mr. Steve Eisele, vice-president-marketing & entertainment of Space Services Inc., says, “After flying in the zero gravity environment of space, the launch vehicle carrying the Teeki payload will safely return to Earth via parachute."
