Over 150 exhibitors representing more than 200 local as well as international brands from 40 countries showcased their Spring/Summer 2014 collection for children and youth at the Spanish fashion fair for children—International Fashion Fair for Children and Youth (FIMI) that concluded last week.

Javier Rodrigo, president of the fair, announced that the show has exceeded expectations in drawing interest of international buyers.

In its 77th edition, the fair held in Spanish Valencia showcased a wide range of clothing and accessories, with comfortable and ergonomic designs and soft fabrics carved to soothe all tastes, including traditional sailor appearance of blue and white and fresh tissues, and collections highlighting light pastel romantic style.

The fair aiming to patronize ‘Brand Spain’, through a blend of fashion and business hosted several events like fashion parades.

Several well-known names like Lourdes, Boboli, La Quinta, Rubio Kids, Oca-Loca, Jib, Bimbalina, Jo & Jo, Lea Lelo by Susana Mazzarino, Larrana and Barcarolle participated in the classical gateway parade to showcase apparels inspired by nature, tropical landscapes, saturated colors and floral prints and a tribute to the 1960s prints like block colors, polka dots, flowers and geometric prints.

The fair even hosted a ‘Magic Day’ parade, which highlighted communion and ceremony fashion ideas, featured in collections with pleated effects or pearly appearance, gauze, taffeta, tulle perforated batiste, jute, bamboos, stone colors, gray or pale pink. Firms including Larrana, Pilar del Toro, Barcarolle, Cap-Ras, Carmy, Magara, Creations Charo and Rubio Kids showcased in this gateway.

Rubio Kids featured a collection of shirts, jackets, cigarette pants and dresses inspired by paintings of painter Joaquín Sorolla Valencia and dedicated to Sorolla Brand Rubio Kids Valencia.

Two well-known designers—Dolores Font Cortés, signature DC Kids swimwear specializing in womenswear and childrenswear, and Hortensia Maeso, founder of Les Enfants de l' Eden, a company dedicated to communion and ceremony—also featured at the ‘SEE ME WALKING’ space at the fair.

Design students and upcoming designers also got a chance to display their works at the event’s forward-looking space ‘Little Knots’.
