Avant-garde fashion marked the recently concluded Mercedes Benz Berlin Fashion Week showcasing the collection for spring/summer 2014.

In its 13th edition the show drew participation of several leading designers including Ivan Mandzukic, Daniel Blechman, Kilian Kerner, Sissi Goetze, Marc Stone, and Luise Barsch.

Designer Ivan Mandzukic presented a range of relaxed silhouettes distinguished by defined lines and graphic- geometrical details featured in soft colours.

Showcasing for Berlin’s menswear label Sopopular, Daniel Blenchman featured a collection of apparels inspired by urban streetwear in different shades of grey. The collection was much about classic cuts and narrow silhouettes, with edgy streetwear elements and futuristic design details.

Kilian Kerner’s collection of striped patterns with metallic details invigorated a feeling of fusion of formalwear and sportswear, embracing vibrant colours with bright blue and metallic touches.

A collection featuring minimal looks with sharp cuts, meticulous making with overlapping fabrics and a great reliance on black and denim marked designer Sissi Goetze’s collection at the show.

Hien Le presented a collection with minimal cuts and dragonfly wings prints.

Marc Stone’s collection came out to be a great combination of classic, modern style with subtle futuristic touches given to hi-tech fabrics while not missing on the quality.

Though fashion remained to be in the forefront, eco-sustainability continued to be the buzzword at the Show Floor in Berlin, the Green Showroom, Lavera the Show Floor and the Ethical Fashion Show where the designers showcased their collections.

Some designers, who presented at the show, chose to remain devoted to the eco-sustainability theme. This included names like Anja and Sandra Umann who presented collection for high-fashion label Umasan.

Luise Barsch, the co-founder of designer label Aluc, is another name in the list, who presented an ecological collection made from discarded flawed pieces.

Berlin’s fashion design faculty of the University of Applied Science also participated in the show to present some of the collections of its students. Their designs were mainly characterized by a combination of experiment, craft and wearability.
