Temperley's Somerset label is the fastest-selling brand ever to launch at John Lewis - so was a natural choice to represent the respected department store. The Coronation Festival will be held from July 11-14 in celebration of the Queen's 60 years on the throne, and will also pay tribute to six decades of British fashion with a catwalk show set in the palace gardens.
"When designing the Somerset pieces to be shown exclusively at the Coronation Festival catwalk we drew on British heritage and tradition - a quality that is intrinsic to the Somerset autumn/winter 2013-14 collection," Temperley told us. "We updated Somerset classics by re-creating them in royal Balmoral tartan, including the best-selling high-waisted trousers and a chic waist-length cape, a silhouette that has become synonymous with the Somerset brand."
The two exclusive pieces will be shown on the catwalk alongside the Somerset by Alice Temperley spring/summer 2014 collection, and other own-brand labels from John Lewis. Following the unprecedented success of her previous Somerset collections, Temperley will expand her offering for next winter - adding lingerie and designs for younger girls to the range.
