The Buckingham Palace has revived the memories of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II through an exhibition that features glorious gowns and jewels that were worn by the Queen and the Royal family during her coronation in 1953.

The exhibition features the magnificent Norman Hartnell designed gown that was worn by the young monarch when she was crowned Queen of England, and the 21 foot purple colored velvet and ermine-trimmed coronation robe.

The purple velvet robe also had crystals, pearls and sequins encrusted in the designs. The robe took the members of the Royal School of needlework 3500 hours to embroider and wheat ears and olive branches were included in the designs to represent peace and prosperity.

The open exhibition, being organized by the Royal Collection Trust, would run through September 29, 2013 offering the visitors a chance to relive the special event with never-seen-before private home films of the Coronation, shot on the Queen's instructions.

The exhibition curator of the Royal Collection Trust Caroline de Guitaut said the exhibition brings together a magnificent display of dresses and objects which are both unique and personal to The Queen and a remembrance of the extraordinary events of the Coronation Day.

According to her, a visit to Buckingham Palace this summer would present the visitors with a truly special experience in the 60th anniversary year, a statement said.

The exhibition held in the Palace’s Ballroom has the dress, robes and uniforms worn by the principal royal party brought together for the first time since the Coronation Day, including The Queen’s Coronation Dress and Robe of Estate, the uniform, robe and coronet of The Duke of Edinburgh, the dress and robe of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, the dress and robe of Princess Margaret as well as the outfits worn on the day by two year old Princess Anne and four year old Prince Charles, the Queen’s children.
